RACV Hobart Hotel was experiencing sediment issues in its hot water system, causing thermostatic mixing valves (TMVs) to block. This posed the risk of showers cutting out mid-use frustrating for guests and potentially driving up maintenance costs for the facilities team. Enhancing the hot water system’s performance and ensuring guest comfort were key priorities for the hotel.

- Reduce sediment in the hot water supply to prevent TMV blockages.

- Integrate filtration into existing infrastructure with minimal disruption.

Challenges
Fitting filtration into a tight existing pipework layout without disrupting hotel operations required careful planning and close coordination with the installing plumber.
Solution
We supplied two SKAN Autofine automatic self-cleaning screen filters, specifically designed for high-temperature hot water. Installed in the hot water loop, they capture sediment before it reaches the TMVs, improving reliability and reducing maintenance.
