Ensuring Clean Water Supply at Blacktown Mt Druitt Hospital

Background
Southland Filtration was contracted by the hydraulics contractor to design and supply advanced filtration systems for Blacktown Mt Druitt Hospital Redevelopment project. This project aimed to enhance the hospital’s water infrastructure, focusing on both the potable cold water supply and the recycled rainwater supply.

Objectives
This project aimed to enhance the hospital’s water infrastructure, focusing on both potable cold water and recycled rainwater.  The primary objective was to ensure  clean water supply at Blacktown Mt Druitt Hospital, ensuring a reliable and efficient filtration system to meet the hospital’s stringent standards and requirements.

Challenges
The project presented several challenges, including:

• Integrating the new filtration systems with the existing infrastructure.
• Ensuring the systems met the high standards for water quality required in a hospital environment.
• Providing remote monitoring capabilities to ensure continuous and optimal performance.

Solution
To address these challenges, we implemented the following solutions:

Potable Cold Water System:

• Designed and supplied dual JUDO DN80 automatic backwash screen filters at 100 microns.
• Delivered as a skid package with stainless steel manifold pipework, baseplate/frame, and isolation valving.

Outcome
The successful implementation of these advanced filtration systems ensured that Blacktown Mt Druitt Hospital could maintain a high standard of water quality for both potable and recycled water. The system’s remote monitoring capabilities and automatic backwash features provided reliable and efficient operation, meeting the hospital’s demands.
