Southland Filtration was engaged by the hydraulic engineering firm in the concept phase of this project for design and recommendation scope for domestic cold water filtration (DCWF) and CSSD water treatment works.

The DCWF scope included two stage filtration consisting of 100 micron and 30 micron in duty/standby configuration. The JUDO JPF series of automatic backwash filters were selected due to their precise and unique filtration and cleaning technology and a proven track-record of over 20 years of successful operation in major hospitals nationally.

The CSSD scope required a complete solution to deliver AS4187:2014 compliant water. The resultant design included a pre-treatment package consisting of a break-tank, dual VSD pumps and automatic water softener, and an EndoTherm packaged reverse osmosis (RO) plant. The EndoTherm RO system is world-class cutting-edge technology incorporating duty/standby operation, automatic hot water sanitisation, raw and permeate water buffer tanks and comprehensive control functionality, all mounted and enclosed in a compact, mobile plug-and-play skid.

Following successful commissioning, a comprehensive training program was conducted to educate relevant stakeholders on the operation and functionality of the plant. A preventative maintenance program was implemented to ensure water quality and quantity requirements are met and to optimise operating costs. Furthermore, the routine maintenance works will ensure environmental efficiency, maximises equipment life and minimises/prevents CSSD down-time.
